Design and prototype test of deepwater multifunctional pipeline repair machinery cutting system

Abstract
nti-corrosion coatings are apt to be cut too much by grinding,and it is difficult to cut through a deepwa- ter X70 steel-grade pipeline. This task is also inefficient in alternate operations when using various othe^ mecha nisms. Therefore ^ we propose a new scheme fo^ multifunctional pipeline repair machinery ( MPRM ) that uses one time clamping but multistage manufacture. Using the milling method,we can cut the pipeline,remove the welding crown and perforn chamiering. Using a waved-edge milling cutter in a milling experiment,we obtained the empiri cal lomiula for the milling force. We removed the anti-corrosion coating using a grinding disc,and designed a com plementary mechanism that automatically adapts to ellipticity changes. We perfomied an undemater mechanical a nalysis with respect to the grinding tool,and completed the system design ^manufacture,and land test. The results show that the grinding resistance torque significantly increased with an increase in the grinding pressure and the ra dius of the operating tool. The large-diameter waved-edge drilling and milling cutter was not clamped when cutting the X70-steel thick-walled pipeline,and the cutting time was shorter. The milling force increased with an increase in the cutting speed and feed rate. When the cutting force reached 5000 N,there was significant machine chatter. The onshore test results verify the feasibility of the design for MPRM. This study lays a technical foundation for the development of an engineering prototype.关键词
