Abstract
Objective To summarize up the effect of totally implantable venous access ports (TIVAP) implanted via internal jugular vein on chemotherapy for breast cancers. Methods A retrospective review was conducted on 96 patients undergoing a TIVAP implantation for breast cancer chemotherapy at our hospital from June 2013 to December 2015. Surgical and long-term complications were analyzed. Results All TIVAPs were implanted successfully. There were one case of cardiac arrhythmia, one case of hematoma, two case of pneumothorax, two cases of catheter occlusion, three case of catheter-related infection and one case of catheter rupture. The patients were followed up for a median of 15 months (4-30 months). TIVAP worked well without leakage, pneumothorax, infection, or pinch-off syndrome. Conclusion Implanting totally implantable venous access port via the internal jugular vein is feasible and safe in patients with breast cancer.关键词
