Abstract

Objective To discuss the effect of intracavitary ECG (IECG) on positioning the tip of totally implantable access port (TIAP) by internal jugular vein. Methods Forty-one patients with TIAP from January 2014 to January 2015 were involved as control group with routine implantation of TIAP while another 68 patients from February 2015 to October 2015 as observation group with IECG for positioning the tip of TIAP. The incidence rate of ectopy of catheter in two groups was compared. Results The incidence rate of ectopy of catheter in observation group was lower than that in control group (P<0.05). In observation group, when the length of the catheter reached the prediction length of body surface, the P-wave amplitude was 0.75 ±0.31 mV; and once prediction length of body surface was 3cm deeper, the P-wave amplitude was 3.37 ±1.24 mV, and the P-wave was clear and stable. Conclusion IECG is conducive to positioning the tip of TIAP to determine whether the catheter is in the superior vena cava or not, thus reduces the incidence of ectopy of catheter, and it is worthy of clinical promotion.
