Abstract

The implementation of integrated water regulation of Heihe River since 2000 has effectively increased the water into the lower reaches and improved the downstream ecological environment. However, it only ensured the drainage of total water through Zhengyixia and runoff to East Juyan Lake, not considered the consistent of water distribution process with downstream ecological water requirement process, not demonstrated the appropriate water maintained by East Juyan Lake and unrealized the maximum ecological benefit of the water resources into downstream. Based on the research of water requirement rules of agricultural crops in middle reaches, ecological water requirement rules of downstream vegetation and maintaining appropriate water of East Juyan Lake, this paper put forward ecological water dispatching scheme, including centralized schedule in spring, timely flood regulation, and subsequent dispatching in August, September and October. At the same time, water dispatching supervision and water management were strengthened. After implementation of ecological water dispatching, the water into downstream had been increased significantly, the number of days of river discontinuous flow had been decreased year by year, ecological environment deterioration had been contained and the surrounding ecological environment of East Juyan Lake basin had been improved significantly.
