Abstract
Located on the lower north stem in the middle reaches, Guxian Multipurpose Dam Project is a controlling backbone project of the Yellow River. This paper introduced the strategic importance of the project for harnessing and development of the Yellow River, ensuring standing flood control security of the lower reaches of Yellow River, progressively realizing sustainable stability of the Yellow River and guaranteeing steady promotion of the national strategic deployment for economic and social development. Besides, the project can considerably improves the water supply conditions on both banks, develop superior water power resources and guarantee regional water, food and energy security, which brings remarkable social, economic, environmental and ecological benefits. The Project is also irreplaceable in sediment retaining and in joint water⁃sediment regulation with the Yellow River Xiaolangdi Multipurpose Dam Project, and is a key project in the water⁃sediment regulation system of the Yellow River. Development of the project is thus extremely essential and pressing.关键词
