Abstract

Problems of the structure of a water pump unit are diagnosed according to its vibration response experiment and flow excitation experiment results. And the structure is improved and optimized according to the diagnosis results. First of all, the vibration test of a ship water pump unit is done. Through the analysis of the characteristic frequency spectrum, the possible influence factors on the vibration are found. Then, the modal test is combined with Operational Deformation Shape (ODS) test to analyze the modal parameters and operation condition parameters of the unit and to find the main influencing factors of the structure on the vibration. The flow fields of the suction chamber channel, impeller channel and pumping chamber channel are simulated and analyzed and the influence of the fluid-flow excitation on the vibration is found. Finally, on the basis of the results of dynamic characteristic analysis and flow field analysis, the installation process of the pump unit and the geometrical size of the vortex chamber are optimized and improved. As a result, the vibration of the water pump unit is effectively reduced.
