Minimum magnitude of completeness for earthquake catalogues in Xinjiang region

Abstract
The minimum magnitude of completenessMc reflects the network monitoring capability. For the 2 development periods (“the ninthifve-year plan” and “the tenth ifve-year plan”) of Xinjiang Seismic Network, we used the entire-magnitude-range (EMR) method to study the spatial distribution of minimum magnitude of completenessMc in Xinjiang region from Jan. 1, 2001 to Sep. 30, 2015. Bootstrap testing are also performed to estimate the uncertainty ofMc. This results show that the distribution ofMc is spatially inhomogeneous, and the spatial distributions ofMc are consistent with the distributions of stations. Moreover, the uncertainties of minimum magnitude of completenessδMc≤0.2, and its distribution is also spatially inhomogeneous. The value ofMc is generally decrease after “the tenth ifve-year plan”, which indicated that the monitoring capability of Xinjiang Seismic Network had been signiifcantly improved.关键词
