Abstract
Objective:The aim of the study was to evaluate whether EDTA as root conditioning can improve the clini-cal therapeutic effect of periodontal diseases.Methods:The databases included Pubmed,Embase,Cochrane library and(ISI) Web of science were searched from their earliest records to Feb 2015.The quality assessments of the methodologies of all in-cluded studies and all the data were performed by Reman 5.3.Probing depth and Clinical attachment level were analyzed u-sing inverse variance.Results:Only eight articles met the inclusion criteria.Between the EDTA groups and the control groups the results were not statistically significant at 6 month(PD:MD=-0.18 mm,Z=1.54,P=0.12,CAL:MD=0.03 mm,Z=0.22,P=0.83).In addition,the meta-analysis of EDTA with antibiotic groups showed statistical significance( PD:3 month MD=-1.27 mm,Z=4.84,P<0.00001,6 month MD=-1.00 mm,Z=1.06,P<0.00001;CAL:3 month MD=-1.03 mm,Z=10.53,P<0.00001,6 month MD=-0.62 mm,Z=6.56,P<0.00001).Conclusion:The effect of EDTA be used alone was not obvious,but in combination with antibiotic,it could significantly decrease the level of probing depth and clinical attachment level.关键词
