《彼得·潘》中的儿童成长隐喻
Peter Pan and the metaphor of children’s initiation
摘要
Abstract
Examining Peter Pan by James M. Barrie from the perspective of archetypal criticism with the method of ethical literary criticism,we hold that Peter Pan can be seen as a fairy-tale-version story of Iden. From Adam and Eve’s story,we found that the human beings grow up at the expense of losing pleasure and naivety. Just like our an-cestor’s state before eating the forbidden fruit in the garden of Iden, such children as Peter Pan live in pleasant but ethical chaos in Eden-like Neverland in Peter Pan,lacking the wisdom and rationality of getting to cognize them-selves and the world around them. Just as our ancestor had to lose comfortable Eden to get themselves out of ethical ignorance and head for civilization,so the children have to leave cozy Neverland and enter the real world to be en-lightened and toughened in the process of initiation.关键词
