Study and Application of Key Technical Solutions for Overhead Contact System on Heavy Haul Railways

Abstract
With the characteristics of heavy haul railway, such as the heavy traction quality, high power consumption, high current carrying capacity of overhead contact system ( OCS ) , the requirement of overhead contact system is different from that of the conversional railways. Therefore, it is necessary to study the key technical solutions of the overhead contact system. According to the computer analogue simulation and comparison of different solutions, the key technical solutions are specifically recommended with respect to wire specifications, tension configurations, OCS fittings, phase isolation and etc. The results are successfully applied to Shanxi-Henan-Shandong heavy haul railway and Zhangjiakou-Tangshan heavy haul railway. In view of the inconsistent types of OCS fittings on heavy haul railways, which may result in problems during operation and maintenance, the consistency and standardization of main OCS facilities should be addressed to ensure safe transportation and less project investment.关键词
