Abstract

With natural vegetable of gardenia yellow dyeing as raw material, through orthogonal experiments and single fac-tor analysis, the optimum conditions of gardenia yellow dyeing on cotton knitted fabric are determined. The dye-ing temperature is 95℃, the amount of dye is 5% (o.w.f), pH value is 5. The effects of the mordant, neutral electrolyte, surface active agent on dyeing effect are analyzed, and the fabric antimicrobial activities against Es-cherichia coli are tested. Experiments show that the impact of mordant, neutral electrolyte, surface active agents on the color characteristics is very small. The gardenia yellow dyeing of cotton knitted fabric has good color fast-ness, which is in accordance with national standards. Finally, the antibacterial rate of the cotton knitted fabric dyed by gardenia yellow dye is above 75%, which is in line with national standards and has a good antibacterial effect. It is indicated that gardenia yellow dyeing could endow the fabric with good antimicrobial activity.
