Effects of Mannanoligosaccharides Supplementation in Diets with Different Concentrate to Roughage Ratios on in Vitro Ruminal Fermentation of Sheep

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of mannanoligosaccharides ( MOS) supple-mentation in diets with different concentrate to roughage ratios on in vitro ruminal fermentation of sheep. Six levels (0, 0.4%, 0.8%, 1.2%, 1.6% and 2.0%) of MOS were supplemented in diets with four concentrate to roughage ratios (20∶80, 30∶70, 40∶60 and 50∶50) to formulate 24 kinds of subtract using a 4×6 two factorial experiment design. The subtracts were cultured for 3, 6, 9, 12 and 24 h using in vitro gas production method, respectively, and pH, ammonia nitrogen ( NH3-N) and volatile fatty acid ( VFA) concentrations in cultivated fluid were determined. The results showed as follows: the pH, NH3-N concentration, total VFA concentration and butyrate content in cultivated fluid were significantly affected by concentrate to roughage ratio ( P<0.05) , NH3-N concentration was significantly influenced by MOS level ( P<0.05) , and NH3-N concentration was also significantly influenced by the interaction between MOS level and concentrate to roughage ratio (P<0.05). With the increase of concentrate to roughage ratio, total VFA concentration and butyrate content in cultivated fluid tended to be increased, while the pH and NH3-N concentration in cultivated fluid tended to be decreased;with the increase of MOS level, NH3-N concentration in cultivated fluid was slightly increased. In conclusion, MOS supplementation in diets with different concentrate to roughage ratios can significantly affect NH3-N con-centration of in vitro fermentation of sheep, the effect of MOS is slightly, and the main influencing factor still is concentrate to roughage ratio;the increase of concentrate to roughage ratio increases VFA concentration, but decreases pH and NH3-N concentration of in vitro fermentation of sheep.关键词
