Evaluation of the Chinese Version of the Seven-Item Eustachian Tube Dysfunction Questionnaire

Abstract
Objective To verify the reliability and diagnostic efficacy of the Chinese version of the seven-item Eusta-chian Tube Dysfunction Questionnaire (ETDQ-7) in a clinical setting. Methods The Chinese version ETDQ-7 was complet-ed by 46 adult patients with obstructive Eustachian tube dysfunction (OETD) and 25 healthy volunteers. The score was cal-culated in each group. Internal consistency was measured by Cronbachαcoefficient, diagnostic efficacy was evaluated by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, and correlation between the age of patient and ETDQ-7 score was determined by Spearman correlation analysis. Results The Cronbachαcoefficient of the Chinese version ETDQ-7 was 0.879. The area under the ROC curve (AUC) was 0.974, and the sensitivity and specificity of the Chinese version ETDQ-7 was 95.7%and 99.2%, respectively. No correlation could be found between ETDQ-7 score and age of patients. Conclusion The Chinese version ETDQ-7 can be a reliable, age-neutral tool to quantitatively evaluate the severity of subjective symptoms of adult pa-tients with OETD.关键词
