Abstract

The composition and rheological properties of crude oil in Linyi-Puyang pipeline and two wax deposits in the pipelines of Linyi-Zhaozhaizi (wax deposit 1) and Zhaozhaizi-Shenxian (wax deposit 2) were characterized by SARA, DSC, rheological measurements, HTGC, macroscopic and microscopic observation. The results show that pour point, WAT, wax content, saturation and asphaltene content, viscosity, yield and heavy n-alkane content of the wax deposits increase significantly when compared with crude oil, but light n-alkane content of the wax deposits decreases. The wax crystal of the crude oil is small needle-like structure, while the crystal of the wax deposit has spherical and large needle-like structures. WAT, asphaltene content, viscosity, yield, heavy n-alkane of wax deposit 1 are higher than that of deposit 2, but the light n-alkane of wax deposit 1 are lower than that of wax deposit 2. The wax deposit 1 contains more and larger plate-like/needle-like wax crystals, which are also more compact than that of wax deposit 2. Therefore, pigs are easier to be stucked in the pipeline of Linyi-Zhaozhaizi section.
