Hydrodynamics in a Novel Gas-Liquid Cocurrent Bubble Reactor and its CFD Simulation

Abstract
A new gas-liquid cocurrent bubble reactor with good liquid mixing in each tray and low axial liquid backmixing was developed for slow reactions and high mass transfer reactions. A computational fluid dynamics method based on a two-fluid model was used to study gas-liquid hydrodynamics, mixing process in liquid phase and residence time distribution in the reactor, which shows consistent results with cold model experiments. The results show that the liquid and gas phases keep steady under cocurrent flow and the tray pressure drop is low (0.2 kPa) under a wide operating range. The residence time distribution results show that the multi-reactor series model number is between 3 and 3.4.关键词
