Review of the Studies on the Adverse Reactions after Acupoint Thread Embedding

摘要
Abstract
Since acupoint thread embedding is easy-to-operate, low-costing, and can produce a lasting efficacy, this method has been gradually accepted by physicians and patients. Together with the promotion, the adverse reactions have also been reported by scholars. Although most of the clinical reports claimed that acupoint thread embedding produced few adverse reactions, the security evaluation lacked of reliable clinical data evidence. By searching CNKI, VIP, Wanfang, and Medline (Pubmed), classifying and concluding the reported adverse events, manifestations, and causes published during the recent 16 years (2000-2015), we would like to suggest to be strict with the operation and cautions in performing acupoint thread embedding, and to select novel thread material, for preventing adverse reactions after thread embedding. The influences of embedding depth, stimulation intensity, and frequency on the safety and therapeutic efficacy require further studies and explorations.关键词
