[Methods] The 60 T2DM patients, aged from 45 to 67 years old, were enrolled in this study. They were randomly divided into two groups,Baduanjin exercise group and control group. Patients in Baduanjin exercise group did Baduanjin exercise for 12 weeks,45~50 min each time,5 times a week. Patients in control group received diabetes education, once a month. Fasting blood-glucose (FBG), postprandial blood sugar (PBG), glycosylated hemoglobin (HbAlc), body fat percentage (BF%), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), maximum isometric strength of quadriceps femoris, hamstring, tibialis anterior and gastrocnemius were observed. [Results] In Baduanjin group, FBG,PBG and HbAlc decreased respectively after 12 weeks (P<0.05);BF%declined in female people (P<0.05), and between two groups, it was also showed significant differences. Compared with the same group, muscle strength increased in average as follows, quadriceps femoris 6.7 kg (19.8%), tibialis anterior 6.5 kg (24.3%)and gastrocnemius 6.0 kg(24.7%) (P<0.05), compared with control group, increased significantly (P<0.05).
