摘要

Abstract

The workability of soil-bentonite backfills for slurry-trench cutoff wall includes the water quality, density, marsh funnel viscosity, API filtration of bentonite-water slurry and backfill water content wB required to achieve target slump. The results of the workability reported in previous stud-ies are assessed. The relationship between liquid limit of bentonite and bentonite content required to achieve the workability of bentonite-water slurry is confirmed, and the influences of bentonite con-tent and liquid limit of backfill on the wB are evaluated. The results indicate that the liquid limit of bentonite is suggested to be larger than 200% during the preparation of the bentonite-water slurry;the wB increases with the increase of liquid limit of bentonite for a given bentonite content;the ratio of backfill water content corresponding to -ΔH=125 mm to liquid limit of backfill is mainly in the range of 1 . 2 to 1 . 6 , and there exists a linear relationship between backfill water content correspond-ing to -ΔH=125 mm and liquid limit of backfill. In addition, apparent liquid limit is developed to evaluate the workability of backfills whose liquid limit values are unable to be measured. The unique relationship between apparent liquid limit and wB is proposed to predict the workability of various backfills.
