Hierarchical Control Strategy of SMES-VRB Based Hybrid Energy Storage to Stabilize Power Fluctuations of Renewable Energy Storage

Abstract
To address the volatility and intermittent nature of renewable energy and ensure power balance between each power generation unit of micro-grid,adding hybrid energy storage system is proved to be an efficient method. Presented a HESS composing of a power-type Superconducting magnetic energy storage(SMES)and energy-type vanadium redox flow battery(VRB)energy storage to stabilize renewable energy power fluctuations of wind power. For the shortcomings of existing method of two-stage filter,state of charge(SOC)feedback control was added to the system,and hierarchical control strategy with optimized control layer and coordinated control layer were proposed. Stabilizing effects of wind power fluctuation and dynamic changes of SOC were compared with the method of two-stage filter and hierarchical control through simulation,and the hierarchical control effectiveness of HESS based on SMES and VRB are verified.关键词
