摘要

Abstract

How to discriminate between the real underwater target echo and the synthetic echo is a key problem in i⁃dentifying the underwater target. In this study, we analyze the echo amplitude fluctuation frequency of the real un⁃derwater target echo and the synthetic target echo of conventional point sources. The theoretical research based on the echo highlight model shows that the amplitude fluctuation frequency of the real target echo increases when the carrier frequency increases. However, the amplitude fluctuation frequency of the synthetic target echo does not have such a feature. A method of discriminating between the real target echo and the synthetic echo based on the echo amplitude fluctuation frequency is put forward herein. A sea test is conducted to compare the Benchmark model ech⁃o and the simulative echo synthesized by two⁃point sound sources. The test results show that by actively transmitting two signals with apparently different frequencies, the real target echo and the synthetic echo can be discriminated based on the contrast of the amplitude fluctuation peak frequencies of the received echo. The result verifies the fea⁃sibility of the method for discriminating between the real target echo and the echo of the point⁃source synthesized target based on the pulse amplitude fluctuation frequency.
