Study on micellization behaviors of polypropoxylated cationic surfactants in water/isopropanol solvent mixtures

Abstract
The micel ization behaviors of polypropoxylated cationic surfactants with the average PO ad⁃duct numbers for four and eight [PO(4)QA, PO(8)QA] in water/isopropanol solvent mixtures were investigated using conductivity and dynamic light scattering (DLS) multi-techniques. The effect of PPO groups on the sur⁃factants micel ization behaviors was also discussed. The results showed that regular or reverse micel occurs with water or alcohol rich solvent mixtures, respectively, and no micel occured in non water or non alcohol sol⁃vent. Electrostatic contribution of PPO groups to the surfactant micel ar properties occurred in the reverse mi⁃cel ization behaviors of surfactants PO(4)QA and PO(8)QA.关键词
