Abstract

OBJECTIVE:To provide reference for improving the nutritional status of inpatients in colorectal department. METHODS:Selecting the inpatients with rectal cancer,colon cancer and colorectal polyps in colorectal department in our hospital from Jan. 1,2013 to Dec. 31,2015 as objects,“Nutrition Risk Screening Tool 2002”was used for evaluating the nutritional status, undernutrition and nutrition risk were investigated. RESULTS:In the enrolled 370 patients, the incidence of total undernutritional deficiency was 25.1%,and the incidence of total nutritional risk was 31.4%;accounting to statistical analysis, there were no significant differences in the incidence of undernutrition and nutritional risk in male and female patients(P>0.05), while there were significant differences in the incidence of undernutrition and nutritional risk in patients with the 3 diseases (P<0.05,the incidence of undernutrition and nutritional risk of colon cancer patients was higher than patients with rectal and colorectal polyps). There were no significant differences in body mass indexes in patients with the 3 diseases at the time of admission and discharge (P>0.05), but the serum albumin was statistically significant (P<0.05, which was significantly decreased at discharge). CONCLUSIONS:The undernutrition and nutritional risk sitation of the inpatients (especially the patients with colon cancer) in colorectal department should be noticed, giving adequate nutrition support and strengthening the guidance of postoperative nutrition.
