Abstract
OBJECTIVETo investigate the effects of barium cotton radiography on the diagnosis of esophageal foreign body.METHODSThe clinical data of 27 cases of esophageal foreign body from the past 10 years in our Department were retrospectively studied. RESULTSBarium lung occurred in 5 cases caused by barium aspiration during radiography. Twelve cases were misdiagnosed because of residual barium in esophageal wall. Peri-esophagitis or mediastinal abscess occurred in 10 cases due to barium overflowing out of damaged esophageal wall.CONCLUSIONBarium cotton radiography has some contraindications. Indications should be selected properly to reduce the complications.关键词
