Abstract
The rapid parameter determination of the July 30th 2016 M7.8 earthquake in Mariana Islands is introduced in this paper.And then,based on the data from the Global Seismograph Network (GSN ),the focal mechanism of this event is calculated with the W-Phase method.The best double-couple solution is:for the nodal plane Ⅰ,strike= 198.0°/dip= 35.7°/slip= 135.9°,while for the nodal plane Ⅱ,strike= 236.2°/dip= 66.0°/slip=62.7°;and the moment magnitude is MW7.72.This result is quite consistent with the ones from such international seismological institutions as the Global Centroid Moment Tensor (GCMT),all indicating that this earthquake is a subduction event of reverse faulting at an intermediate depth.关键词
