Network layout and assessment of the International Monitoring System (IMS)

Abstract
The General Assembly of the United Nations adopted the Comprehensive Nu-clear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT)on 10th September,1960.To monitor the implementation of the CTBT,Annex 1 of the CTBT Protocol lists 50 global seismic stations that constitute the basic network for IMS.Most IMS arrays are concentric circles with small aperture.This pa-per introduces the methods of nuclear monitoring,classification and construction steps of seismic monitoring stations and the distribution of two different types of seismic stations, and evaluates the seismic monitoring capability of the International Monitoring System (I MS ).关键词
