Clinical Observation of Acupoint Thread Embedding in Improving AIs-induced Osteopenia in Breast Cancer Patients

Abstract
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of acupoint thread embedding in improving aromatase inhibitors (AIs)-induced osteopenia in breast cancer patients. Method Ninety-three patients were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 47 cases in the treatment group and 46 cases in the control group. The treatment group was intervened by Caltrate and acupoint thread embedding, while the control group was by Caltrate alone. After 6-month treatment, the bone mineral density T scores and estradiol were evaluated. The therapeutic efficacies were also compared between the two groups. Result The T scores increased significantly after the treatment in both groups (P<0.01);the therapeutic efficacy of the treatment group was better than that of the control group (P<0.05). After the intervention, the change of estradiol level in the control group was not discernible. The level of estradiol increased after the treatment in the treatment group, but was insignificantly different from that in the control group (P>0.05). Conclusion Caltrate and acupoint thread embedding can produce a content efficacy in treating AIs-induced osteopenia in breast cancer patients, and can produce certain effects on the estrogens.关键词
