Long-term Trend and Characteristics of PM2.5 in the Central Urban Area of Beijing

Abstract
Based on the data of PM2.5 mass concentration in the central urban area of Beijing city from 2008 to 2015, the long-term trend and pollution characteristics were analyzed by means of statistical methods. The results showed that: the multi-annual means mass concentration of PM2.5 was 95.4μg∙m-3, with an overall trend of decreasing. The quality improvement degree was different from year to year, and, the average value was about 2.85%. To solve the haze pollution in Beijing, will take about 18 years. In spring, the PM2.5 pollution maintained a steady trend, while in summer and autumn decreased year by year, and had an increased trend in winter. The pollution sources and emission control in winter should be paid attention. The diurnal variation characteristics of PM2.5 obtained in this study showed that, the minimum value generally appeared 2~3 hours before sunset, and the peak values appeared at 09:00, 07:00, 00:00 and 22:00 respectively, in spring, summer, autumn and winter. PM2.5 accumulated in the morning, the range of its diurnal variation was small in spring and summer. In autumn and winter, the cumulative effect appeared in the middle of the night, and the diurnal variation of PM2.5 mass concentration was much more obvious. Research suggests that, in autumn and winter, outdoor sports should be reduced at night. From the point of health exposure, the average exposure level of worse than "unhealthy" accounted for 58.5%, which was in very serious pollution levels. The overall frequency of exposure was stable or improved. The exposure frequency of the extreme exposure days, reached the state of “health alert”, showed a rising trend, with an average value of 4.4%.关键词
