Abstract

To study the effect of multi-hydroxyl polyether on improving the anti-impact property of nitramine gun propellant, tubular nitramine gun propellant samples containing different amount of toughening agent were prepared respectively, using a kind of nitramine gun propellant (RP5) tablets as raw material and multi-hydroxyl polyether with different number-average molecular weight as toughening agent.The axial and radial impact strength of nitramine gun propellant samples were measured using drop hammer impact test machine and pendulum impact tester, respectively.The effect of different types and contents of polyether on the anti-impact property of high energy nitramine gun propellant was discussed at low temperature(-40℃), room temperature(20℃) and high temperature(50℃).The results show that in the axial direction, when the number-average molecular weight of adding multi-hydroxyl polyether is 2118 and its mass fraction is 3%, the toughening effect of nitramine gun propellant sample at low temperature is better;in the radial direction, when the number-average molecular weight of adding multi-hydroxyl polyether is 5618 and its mass fraction is 3%, multi-hydroxyl polyether can make the radial low-temperature anti-impact strength of sample increase by about 50%.
