Abstract
Electromechanical impedance (EMI)based damage detection technique applied for large structural health monitoring has not been widely studied. This paper investigated the effectiveness of EMI technique and the sensitive distance of piezoelectric (PZT ) sensor for large tunnel segment structural bolt looseness detection. Through measuring the electromechanical admittance spectrum of the PZT sensors installed on different locations,characterizations of the impedance curves were analyzed. Then resonant frequency variation tendency of the admittance spectrum was studied after the bolt looseness damage inducing to the segment structure,and statistical index RMSD was also calculated for damage quantification. Its’rate of change was also adopted for evaluation on sensor sensitivity. The experimental results indicated that the PZT sensor can capture the development of the bolt looseness damage,thus the EMI technique is feasible for the large tunnel segment structural damage detection. And it was more effective of PZT sensor located on the bolt than on the concrete. With the development of structural damage,the index values of the near PZT senor varied more largely than the distant ones,the relationship between sensor sensitivity and distance was inverse linear proportion.关键词
