Progressive Universal Poetry:An Interpretation of Athenaeum’ s Fragment 116
摘要
Abstract
Athenaeum is a journal of literary criticism for early German Romanticism and a platform through which Romantic literary critics publicize their principles. Athenaeum’ s Fragment 116 on progressive universal poetry is an epoch-making document as it puts forward the idea that “Romantic literature is progressive and universal”, thereby expounding the attributes and historical position of Romantic literature. This paper offers a sentence-by-sentence interpretation of Fragment 116 and is intended to explore the intellectual significance of German Romantic literature.关键词
