Synthesis and characterization of high efficiency chelating dispersant AA-MA-ALS

Abstract
The high efficiency water-soluble chelating dispersant (AA-MA-ALS) was prepared by solu⁃tion polymerization with acrylic acid (AA), methacrylic acid (MA), sodium al ylsulfonate (ALS) as monomer, am⁃monium peroxydisulfate [(NH4)2S2O8] as initiator, sodium bisulfite (NaHSO3) as chain transfer agent. The struc⁃ture and relative molecular mass of AA-MA-ALS and particle size of CaCO3 suspension were investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectrum (FT-IR), gel permeation chromatograph (GPC) and nanoparticle size analyz⁃er. The results showed that the high efficiency chelating dispersant AA-MA-ALS was obtained when m(AA)∶m(MA)∶m(ALS)=4∶1∶1, the dosage of (NH4)2S2O8 was 1.0% on the total mass of monomers, temperature was 80 ℃, and the insulation reaction time was 3 h. The product exhibited good ion-chelation activity and stable dispersive power, and the number average molecular weight was 12 497.关键词
