摘要
Abstract
Adaptation is the freest form of translation ,on the border of which adaptation resides .This paper explores the relationships between adaptation and audiovisual translation (AVT) ,and the use of ad‐aptation in AVT .It first analyzes the relationships between adaptation and translation .It then identifies the characteristics of AVT and pinpoints its nature as adaptation rather than translation proper ,with its crossing over the boundaries of verbal texts and verbal languages ,and the restriction of technology and media .In AVT ,adaptation is exhibited both as a translation procedure and a translation strategy ,and ap‐plied in some major AVT modes ,such as dubbing ,subtitling ,surtitling ,etc .关键词
