Ye Junjian’s Activities of Translating and Introducing Chinese Literature and Culture to the World

Abstract
Ye Junjian (1914~1999) ,as a famous w riter ,literature translator and children litterateur , was devoted to the translation and introduction of excellent Chinese literature and culture to the world for a long time ,which promoted the cultural exchanges between China and other countries ,but his contribu‐tions and influence in this aspect have been little researched up to now .T his paper thoroughly summarizes and analyzes Ye’s translation and introduction activities from Chinese to foreign languages .This paper first explores the social background and the motivation of Ye’s introduction of Chinese literature and cul‐ture to the world and researches his two work patterns ,namely independent and cooperative .Then the pa‐per summarizes Ye’s three major translating methods by analyzing one of his translation works ,Spring Silkworms written by Mao Dun ,namely complete translation ,free translation and omission .This research aims to not only provide some useful suggestions for translators to promote the going abroad of Chinese lit‐erature and culture , but also help people have a more comprehensive understanding of Ye Junjian as a translator .关键词
