Abstract
Objective To evaluate the efficacies of adjustable orthoses for congenital clubfoot of infants. Methods A total of 51 cases (68 feet)with clubfeet wearing adjustable orthoses from March 201 0 to May 201 4 were reviewed retrospectively.All patients were aged under 6 months at the start of treatment.The clinical out-comes were classified as excellent (plantigrade foot with or without tendoachilles lengthening),fair (limited surgery)or poor (posteromedial release). Results The mean follow-up period was 3 (2.5 ~3.5 )years. Among 68 clubfeet,58 feet (85.29%)were graded as excellent,7 feet (1 0.29%)fair and 3 feet (4.41%) poor.Patients starting treatment between 4 and 6 months failed to achieve significantly worse outcomes than those starting under 3 months. Conclusions Satisfactory outcomes of infantile clubfeet may be achieved by wearing adjustable orthoses.Additional studies with longer follow-ups are necessary for determining long-term efficacy.关键词
