摘要
Abstract
Objective To observe the effectiveness and safety of HoLEP ( Holmium laser enucleation of prostate) in the treatment of severe benign prostatic hyperplasia ( BPH) in the elderly. Method 110 Severe BPH patients who were older than 60 years were selected. They were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group,55 patients in each group. Patients in the observation group were treated with HoLEP and those in the control group were treated with TURP . The outcomes and safety of therapies in the two groups were evaluated by using the subjective/objective improvement of symptoms. Results There was no significant difference in the baseline characteristics between two groups,such as Qmax,IPSS grade,QOL grade,and RU. All the four parameters mentioned above after the surgery were significantly improved during the entire follow-up period in the same group compared with those before the surgery,but there was no significant difference in these parameters between the two groups. Conclusion HoLEP is effective in dealing with severe benign prostatic hyperplasia in the elderly. The subjective functional results appeared the same as those of patients who received the treatment with TURP . Moreover,it appears that HoLEP is safe and well tolerated by patients.关键词
