Experiment Study of Surface Flashover on Epoxy Resin Discharged by Nanosecond Pulses in SF6

Abstract
Surface flashover and aging experiments driven by nanosecond pulses were conducted on epoxy resin (EP) materials which have been widely applied in gas insulated switchgears (GIS) for making disc insulators. A novel experimental setup for surface flashover experiments under different gas pressure was developed, and flashover characteristics of EP driven by nanosecond pulses were studied in SF6. Then the surface morphology and elemental composition of the material before and after aging treatment were measured, and the changes of physical and chemical properties of EP in the aging process were analyzed. The results show that, with the increment of SF6 pressure, the flashover voltage of EP increased. In the process of flashover aging, the alumina particles were gradually exposed on the EP surface. As the aging time increased, the organic fluoride, which was produced by the reaction between the polymer on the material surface and the fluorine-containing substances generated by discharge, was sputtered out by the electrical arc and subsequently covered on the material surface. However, there was no obvious change to the properties of alumina particle fillers in the aging process. This research is of significance to those seeking to modify the EP material appliedin GIS, and can also provide some reference to improve the insulating performance and the aging resistance of EP materials.关键词
