摘要

Abstract

Inflammation is part of protective response to infection or tissue injury. Appropriate or controlled in⁃flammation is necessary to eliminate invading pathogens and repair damaged tissue. However, excessive or un⁃controlled inflammation contributes to a range of pathological inflammatory responses, which may result in the increased incidence of both metabolic and infectious diseases. Lipid mediators derived from polyunsaturated fat⁃ty acids have important roles in regulating the initiation, development and resolving of inflammatory responses. A better understanding of the metabolism of polyunsaturated fatty acids and its regulation to inflammation will facilitate the development of dietary nutritional strategies to control the incidence of diseases and improve hu⁃man and animal health. Therefore, the metabolic pathways of polyunsaturated fatty acids and the regulatory mechanism of its metabolic products to inflammation were reviewed in this paper.
