Involvement of MiRNAs in Pathogenesis of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
摘要
Abstract
MicroRNAs(miRNAs) participate in the regulation of gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. The pathogenesis of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) as a heterogeneous disorder is not clear at present. Abnormal expressions of miRNAs in serum, the follicular fluid and granulosa cells of PCOS patients suggested that miRNAs could contribute to the pathogenesis of PCOS. MiRNAs are closely related to the synthesis and secretion of steroid hormones. MiRNAs were found to be involved in the development and atresia of follicles and thus affect the ovulation process in PCOS patients. MiRNAs also play an important role in the insulin resistance of PCOS patients. MiR-125b, miR-483 and miR-320 affect multiple signaling pathways by regulating multiple target genes. This article reviews the roles of miRNAs in the pathogenesis of PCOS. With the detailed function study in future, some miRNAs could be developed as potential biological markers for the diagnosis and prognosis of PCOS, and as new targets for biological treatment of PCOS.关键词
