Abstract

Objective To explore the role of WeChat-aided simulation teaching in improving clinical teaching of lumbar puncture practice in neurology department.Methods We selected 60 students of five-year clinical medicine who did clinical practice in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University from September 2015 to May 2016 and randomly divided them into experimental group and control group (30 students in each group ).The WeChat- aided simulation teaching method was adopted in the experimental group and the traditional teaching method was used in the control group to practice lumbar puncture.Then we evaluated their performance by means of uniform lumbar puncture score and collected their feedback on teaching effect by questionnaire.Results The results of lumbar puncture examination showed that the average score in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group.Further analysis of operation success rate,operation standardization rate, clinical response ability and humanistic care in the two groups showed the experimental group significantly outscored the control group in operation success rate and standard rate. Results of questionnaires on teaching effect of 60 students showed that the autonomous learning initiative in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in control group.Conclusion WeChat-aided simulation teaching can elevate the effect of lumbar puncture clinical teaching in neurology department.
