The Relationship among College Students’Personality and Online Friendship:The Mediating Role of Social Support and Social Networking

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the relationship among online friendship,personality traits and social support. Methods:There were 3 1 5 college students participated in the study.Results:①Many college students met friends on-line(χ2=7.720,P<0.01),and they thought that talking online will not affect their relationship in real life(χ2=285.742,P<0.001);②Neuroticism,openness and extraversion had significant relations with online friendship;social support had significantly positive relations with internet social service preference and online friendship;③Extraver-sion predicted online friendship directly(β=0.12,P<0.05),and extraversion had an indirect influence on online friendship through social support and social networking(β=.15,P<0.01).Conclusion:Personality traits has an im-portant effect on online friendship,social support and social networking play partial mediating role in the link be-tween personality and online friendship.关键词
