Abstract
Objective To investigate clinical characteristics, causes of misdiagnosis and treatment, and prevention methods for hemoptysis and sinus formation induced by bronchial foreign matter. Methods Clinical data of 1 misdiagnosed patient with hemoptysis and sinus formation induced by foreign matter was retrospectively analyzed. Results The patient was admitted for recurrent of cough, shortness of breath and expectoration for 6 months, aggravation for 5 days and hemoptysis once. The patient had an experience of aspiration cough after meal and relieved himself 6 months ago. Since then, the series of symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath and expectoration associated by hemoptysis broken out repeatedly after suffer-ing from upper respiratory tract infection, but twice results of CT examinations in the location hospital showed nothing abnor-mal, and symptoms could be improved after anti-infection treatment. Infective lesion of left lower lung with possibly irregular shadow of foreign matter was found by CT examination in our hospital. The cough symptom intensified when the patient select-ed left lateral position or supine position. Hemoptysis and sinus formation induced by bronchial foreign matter were confirmed by flexible bronchofiberscope examination for 3 times. Treatments of clearing the sinus and anti-infection were given, and the patient discharged after condition was improved. There was no reoccurrence during 3 months of follow-up. Conclusion He-moptysis and sinus formation induced by bronchial foreign matter is rare. Clinicians should take into account the possibility of foreign matter and disease complexity when patients with history of aspiration and repeated infection, and it is the key to con-firming diagnosis by performing flexible bronchofiberscope examination timely.关键词
