An Optimized SSSC Control Strategy for Improving System Damping Characteristics

Abstract
This paper analyzed mathematical mechanism of sub-synchronous resonance of power grid with static synchronous series compensator (SSSC). An improved system model considering SSSC transient characteristics based on single machine infinite system was proposed. With dispatch signal and local measurement signal as SSSC input, system damping could be quickly improved. A new type of damping controller was proposed with reasonable parameters. Using GA to choose optimized controller parameters, optimal damping control parameters are obtained directly from algorithm level. PSCAD/EMTDC simulation results show that system damping is positive and damping controller increases damping ratio. Experimental results show effectiveness of the control strategy for improving system stability.关键词
