Aripiprazole and quetiapine for senile schizophrenia and its influence on PANSS score and incidence of adverse reactions

Abstract
Objective To analyze the efficacy of aripiprazole and quetiapine in the treatment of elderly patients with schizophrenia.Methods 60 elderly patients with schizophrenia treated at our hospital from January,2015 to January,2016 were randomly selected as study objects and were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group.The control group were treated with quetiapine and the observation group aripiprazole.Before and after the treatment,the PANSS score and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between these two groups.Results The PANSS score was significantly lower and the life quality was higher after than before the treatment in both groups,but with no statistical difference between these two groups.The total efficacy was 83.33％ in the observation group and was 76.67％ in the control group.The incidence of adverse reactions was 13.33％ in the observation group and was 26.67％ in the control group.Conclusions Both aripiprazole and quetiapine in the treatment of elderly patients with schizophrenia are effective,but aripiprazole has lower incidence of adverse reactions and is sager,so it worth being generalized.关键词
