Influence of Mineral Admixtures on Compressive Strength and Pore Structure of Steam-Cured High-Strength Cement Paste

Abstract
The influences of mineral admixtures including fly ash (FA), slag, silica fume and limestone powder on the compressive strength and pore structure of steam-cured high-strength cement paste were investigated based on typical mix proportions of steam-cured concrete and the corresponding production technology used in steam-cured pre-stressed beam and track slab. The parameter of cementitious coefficient was employed to analyze the strength-contribution of mineral admixtures on paste. And the relationship between compressive strength and pore structure of paste was also discussed. The results show that the strength of steam-cured paste with mineral admixtures after 28 d age is lower than that of control sample without mineral admixtures. Under steam-curing condition, the pozzolanic activity of fly ash shows no obvious acceleration and the cementitious coefficient of FA at 3 d or 28 d age is low and only approximately 20% of that at 90 d. The cementitious coefficient of slag, silica fume and limestone powder at 3 d is significantly greater than that at later ages. The total porosity of steam-cured paste at both 28 d and 90 d increases with the increasing the mineral admixture. Pore with diameter of over 20 nm has a great negative impact on compressive strength of steam-cured paste.关键词
