Association between infarction types caused by ischemic middle cerebral artery and progressive cerebral infarction

Abstract
Objective To investigate the association between the infarction type caused by ischemic middle cerebral artery and progressive cerebral infarction.Methods Clinical data and imaging data of brain MRI,DWI and MRA from 140 cases with a-cute cerebral infarction caused by ischemic middle cerebral artery were retrospectively analyzed.There were 71 cases in progressive group and 69 in non-progressive group.Results The both two groups showed territorial infarction(TI),watershed infarction (WI),striatocapsular infarction(SCI)and lacunar infarction(LI).In addition,WI(45.1%)and SCI(46.5%)were the dominant types in progressive group,while TI(44.9%)was the main type in non-progressive group,which showed significant difference be-tween two groups(χ2=24.829,P<0.01).Conclusion Acute WI and SCI caused by ischemic middle cerebral artery may be prone to present progressive cerebral infarction.关键词
