External anatomical locking plate in treatment of distal tibial fractures with severe soft tissue injury

Abstract
Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of external anatomical locking plate in the treatment of distal tibial fractures with severe soft tissue injury. Methods Twenty-one patients with severe soft tissue injury of distal tibial fractures were treated with external medial distal tibia anatomical locking plate. Closed intramedullary nail or Kirschner wire fixed through fibula, and medial tibial plate was placed at leaving skin 2~3 cm. Results All pa-tients were followed up for 13~18 months. All patients were healed completely. At the last follow-up, according the Wruhs-Johner evaluation criteria, the result showed that 12 patients recovered excellently, 7 patients recovered well, and 2 cases were fair. Conclusions It′s a simple and safe method that external anatomical locking plate is used to treat patients with severe soft tissue injury of distal tibial fractures, and the operation time is short, patients′function recover well.关键词
