摘要

Abstract

Objective To construct the competency characteristic model of pediatric nurses, to explore the effect of introducing competency characteristic model in nursing management and provide the reference for the management of pediatric nurses. Methods The competency characteristics were initially collected after open questionnaire investigation in nursing experts and then the coding dictionary of competency characteristics in pediatric nurses was constructed combining with Generic Competency Dictionary and literature analysis. Twenty pediatric nurses were interviewed by the method of behavioral event interview to obtain the competency characteristic items. The benchmark competency characteristics and diagnostic competency characteristics in two groups were compared. Results There were 9 benchmark competencies including patient-orientation, analytic thinking, self-confidence, professional knowledge and skill, achievement-orientation, initiative, self-control, and team cooperation and 2 diagnostic competencies including developing others and professional ethic in competency characteristic model of pediatric nurses and the total coding coefficient of consistency reached 0.87. Conclusion The newly-developed competency characteristic model of pediatric nurses has good reliability and is worth to be promoted.
