Abstract

Objective To explore the relationship between transition shock and resilience of newly-graduate nurses. Method General information questionnaire, the transition shock of newly-graduated nurses scale and resilience scale were used to investigate 189 newly-graduated nurses from April to June 2016 and Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the relationship between transition shock and resilience of newly-graduated nurses. Results The total score of transition shock was (103.73 ±6.26), with a scoring rate of 76.8%. The scoring rate of each dimension ranged from 66.9% to 83.2%. The score of transition score from nurses with different educational background and employment pattern indicated statistical significance ( F=7.909, P=0.001; t=2.623, P=0.009). Pearson correlation analysis showed that there was significantly negative relationship between transition shock and resilience (r=-0.949, P<0.001). Conclusion Since the first year of employment witnessed serious transition shock of newly-graduated nurses, systematic, targeted and standardized pre-job training and post-job educational system are conducive to the improvement of professional skill and comprehensive quality of nurses then consequently reducing their transition shock.
