Effects of Sowing Date and Varieties on the Formation, Yield and Quality of Single-clove Garlic

Abstract
To obtain high yield and good quality single-clove garlic, effects of different sowing date (March 1, March 11, March 21, March 31) and varieties ('Chifeng white garlic''Shenyang single-clove garlic''Shenyang white garlic''Chifeng purple skin garlic''Lanzhou purple skin garlic') on the formation of single-clove garlic were studied. The results showed that in the same sowing date, Lanzhou purple skin garlic has the largest seedling increments, two varieties of Chifeng are the second larger than the Shenyang varieties. Shenyang white garlic's rate of single-clove as high as 100%, and Shenyang single-clove garlic's rate is 72.04%. The single head weight:Shenyang single-clove garlic >Shenyang white garlic >two varieties of Chifeng. Same breed garlic with sowing time delay, its rate of single-clove increased significantly, but the yield and quality is gradually reduced. Therefore, the optimal variety is Shenyang single-clove garlic and the best sowing date is around March 11.关键词
