Research on the Effectiveness of Social Norm Information of Energy Efficiency Label of Energy- Efficient Appliances in China

Abstract
How to design Energy label to increase the effectiveness of Energy label has attracted great attention right now. However, the effectiveness of Energy label has been suspected, especially in China. Using social norm theory, the present research examines whether in China displaying social norm information increases label effectiveness. In Study 1, we find that compared to energy labels that display physical or expert information, energy labels that display social norm information are more efficient. We also show that social norm information increases perception of social norms in the adoption of energy labels and thus increases label efficiency. In Study 2, we demonstrate that achievement-based positive media information dilutes the social norm effect found in Study 1, because consumers have lower trust on such information.关键词
